Sonic and Megaman: Returning to their Former Glory?

So, seeing as I don't have much content in me for a Week in Review, I'd figure that I give my oppinion on the the future of the Sonic and Megaman franchises, which have been notoroious for pumping out craploads of shitty games a year.

Since Sonic's transition to 3D, the franchise has been steadly deterating. 2 prime examples of this are Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Shadow felt like a blantent mash-up of Sonic and Guns while the 2006 Game felt like it had great potental but, due to the time restraints Sonic Team had, the game was very much incomplete. After, the flop of the 2006 Game, Sega released Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii. The Secret Rings was not a great game but, as many people say (including myself), it was a step in the right direction for the Series. A few months back, a new Sonic game for the DS made by Bioware was announced. This made me think that if Sega got a group like Bioware to make a Sonic game, Sonic was destined for a grand comeback, thus supported even more by his appearance in Brawl. Then a new game for all the current home consles (including the PS2) called "Sonic Unleashed" was announced. From what I've seen, this game may be what we where all hoping the 2006 game to be, but there may be a chink in this game's armor. A new engine called the Hedgehog Engine is being used for the PS3 and 360 versions of the game, while the PS2 and Wii versions are using a modified engine from past games. Along with this, there will be some change ups in stages and gameplay between the versions. This may make one version of the game a piece of shit, while the other one is great. As of recently, a sequel to the Secret Rings called, "Sonic and the Black Knight" was annouced. The Black Knight, is reported to make the movement more like you would have with the adventure games along with the addition of a sword for Sonic to swing around. With this line-up, it definately means that Sonic is set up to make a grand comeback.

The Blue Bomber hasn't been doing so well lately. Why? too many shitty to sub-par games have be realeased. The main offender of this is the Battle Network and Star Force series. But, Star Force has taken the mistakes made in make the BN games and says "Let's put a out a few games that are fun when you wanna kill some time and also, let's not drag it on like we did with BN". I say that after Star Force 3 is released, stop making games that go back to the same universe of SF and BN and focus on new games from the X and Orginal series along with a new ZX or Legends game here and there. Like Sonic, it seems to be that Megaman is making a comeback with Mega Man 9, which goes back to the orginal formula of the series, make a fun and solid game.

So in conclusion, it looks like both series on there way to being restored to the former glory, but I do see a few bumps in the road on the way.
