Rocky Review Series: Part 3 - Stallion Returns

It's been awhile, so here's the final part of the Rocky Review Series. As always, there will be spoilers

Rocky V takes place right after Rocky IV, with Rocky arriving back in america, but there's something diffrent about him. Soon after, Rocky goes to the doctor to find that the fight with Drago has given him brain damage, thus reverting him to the Rocky we all know and love. Due to Paulie's Drukeness, the Balboa fortune is then lost. The Balboas and Paulie move into Paulie's old house. To make a living, Rocky and Paulie open Mickey's Gym again. Rocky soon meets Tommy Gunn, a kid who had a rough childhood and turned his rage into boxing. Rocky desides to take Tommy under his wing, making Rocky's Son feel ignored. Tommy wins a string of fights until an evil promoter becomes Tommy's new manager. Tommy and Rocky's relationship is then broken by the promoter, which then results in a street fight in the end. At the end, Rocky and his son climb up the steps one more time.

From what I've heard, alot of people hate this movie, but for some odd reason I loved it. What really made this for me was giving use back that Rocky we knew from the first film and putting him back in his element, because III and IV felt so unnatural for Rocky's Character. For me it was the proper Rocky send-off for the time.

16 years after Rocky V, Rocky makes a return to boxing. Now in his 60's, Rocky now owns a Resturant that he and his late wife, Adrain started up back in the mid 90's. After seeing a computer fight of himself back in his prime vs the current heavyweight champ, Rocky disides to get back up and fight again. After a crapload of unnessary plot stuff, Rocky fight the Champ only to lose later. The final scene shows Rocky at Adrian's tombston as he then walks away.

So yeah, Rocky Balboa wasn't really all that good. I thought it was ok, but I commend Stallone on going back to this franchise on last time.

That's end of the road I guess, so here are my rankings and ratings for the Rocky Films.

6. Rocky III - 1.5/5
5. Rocky Balboa - 2.5/5
4. Rocky IV - 3/5
3. Rocky V - 3.5/5
2. Rocky - 4/5
1. Rocky II - 5/5

Up next is the long awaited Week In Review!

And I thought Henshin Justice was Nuts

Above is the promo for DigitalPh33r's New Machinima, Hard Justice. It seems to me that he's gonna make this more of a dark comedy with episodes that are serious with episodes like the promo above. Nice Job on the promo Jon, hope it turns out well. Still waiting for DEM Act 4, but I can wait longer. Toodles.

PS - The Last Part of the Rocky Review Series will be up soon, I'm hoping that I can get it up tommorow.

Rocky Review Series: Part 2 - Rise of the Tiger

After the sucess of the first 2 film, it was only natural that there was going to be a Rocky III. Unfortunatly, things began to take a turn for the worse with this series. Again, there will be spoilers

Rocky III takes place 3 years after the end of Rocky II and apperantly, Rocky is now rich. Rocky has become a bussnessman and has lost his speech impediment. During the unvaling of the Rocky Statue at the museum, Rocky announces his retirement but, a brutish boxer by the name of Clubber Lang challenges Rocky to a fight. Rocky agrees and beings to train with Mickey. The part about this is that Rocky's training sessions are like parties, with tons of people asking for autographs and pictures. At the fight, Rocky is easily defeated by Clubber and Mickey dies of heart failure. Now filled with grief again, Rocky mopes arounds Mickey's Gym until a face from the past offers to help him prepare for a rematch with Clubber. The Face is none other than Apollo Creed. Apollo takes Rocky to where he started, in the slums of California. Apollo does this to get Rocky's egde or his "Eye of the Tiger" back. Rocky then furiously trains with Apollo and his former manager, Duke. Although there have been a few bumps in the road during his training, Rocky manages to defeat Clubber.

Compared to the first 2 films, this one sucked. Rocky is not the Rocky we all know and love in this one. All this movie was is just away for people to make money, not for entertainment value, hell the only good thing to come out of this was Eye of the Tiger.

Rocky IV takes place right after III and Rocky is pretty much the same as he is in the last one. When a Boxer named Ivan Drago from the USSR comes to fight Rocky, Apollo desides to fight him. In the fight against Drago, Apollo is brutally mashed to death. Now wanting revenge, Rocky travels to the USSR to train and fight Drago. After training in the russian country, Rocky takes on Drago and yet again wins.

So Rocky IV was a little better than III but, it still lacked. The only thing going for it was the crazy amount of montages and that was about it. They say that after IV, that V was a piece a crap and Balboa was amazing, I beg to differ...

Rocky Review Series: Part 1 - The Italian Stallion Rides

Since I still don't have much in me for a Week in Review, I'd figure that I'd do a few other things while idea accumlate for one. So, after watching the AVGN's review's of the Rocky movies, I though that I'd watch them all and review them. There will 3 parts to this, Part 1 - The Italian Stallion Rides (Rocky I + II), Part 2 - Rise of The Tiger (Rocky III + IV), Part 3 - The Tiger Dies, The Stallion Returns (Rocky V + Balboa). Let's get things started. Also before I begin, there will be spoliers.

Rocky introduces us to Rocky Balboa, a poor but, good hearted boxer from Philly who is a collector for a loan shark on the side. With the help of his friend Paulie, Rocky begins to devople a relationship with Adrian, Paulie's Sister. As Rocky and Adrian grow closer, The Heavy Weight Boxing Champion, Apollo Creed comes into town in search of an Unknown for him to fight in a Exibition Match. Because of his fighting style, Rocky is chosen by Apollo for the fight. Rocky then furiouly trains for the match with his wise-ass trainer, Mickey. While doing this, Rocky becomes somewhat of an celebrity around town. At the Match, Rocky and Apollo duke it out in a very close fight. It turns out to be that Apollo wins when it was kinda apparant that Rocky won, but even know he didn't win, Rocky dosen't care, he just wants Adrian at his side.

I did like this quite a bit, but not as much as I like Rocky II. Rocky falls short for me because of the pacing. If the pacing wasn't as sluggish, I would of loved this film 10 times more. Let's continue, shall we?

Rocky II picks up right after the end of Rocky, where the fight has ended and Rocky along with Apollo are rushed to the hospital. After Rocky gets out, He proposes to Adrian and soon after marries her. With all the money left over from the fight, Rocky buys a Car, a few Watches, a Jacket with a tiger on it, a new collar for his dog, a collar he wears as a braclet, and a house. Meanwhile, Apollo has been critized by people for riging the fight with Rocky so, he disides to set up a rematch but, he has to avertise himself as the villian so Rocky will come out to fight him. Back on Rocky's side, Rocky and Adrian aren't doing so well when it comes to money and with a baby on the way, Rocky has many jobs until discovering that he has no choice but to fight even though Adrian dosen't want him to fight again. The stress from this causes Adrian to fall into a coma, giving birth to there son while in that state. Filled with grife, Rocky stays by Adrian's Side till she wakes up. Once she wakes up, Adrian and Rocky see there son for the first time. She then tells Rocky to win the fight against Apollo. This then starts an epic training montage. After arriving late, Rocky dukes it out with Apollo again. Rocky narrowly wins, becoming The Heavy Weight Boxing Champion.

Rocky II takes all the great things about the first and greatly improves upon them. There is some draging in this but it isn't as bad as in the first one. How this movie starts right off from the first makes me think that this should be rereleased in combonation with the first so it show the epic in it's true entirity. After Rocky II, things when down hill, Introducing us to the Rocky that isn't Rocky but, it did have a kick ass song.

Sonic and Megaman: Returning to their Former Glory?

So, seeing as I don't have much content in me for a Week in Review, I'd figure that I give my oppinion on the the future of the Sonic and Megaman franchises, which have been notoroious for pumping out craploads of shitty games a year.

Since Sonic's transition to 3D, the franchise has been steadly deterating. 2 prime examples of this are Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Shadow felt like a blantent mash-up of Sonic and Guns while the 2006 Game felt like it had great potental but, due to the time restraints Sonic Team had, the game was very much incomplete. After, the flop of the 2006 Game, Sega released Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii. The Secret Rings was not a great game but, as many people say (including myself), it was a step in the right direction for the Series. A few months back, a new Sonic game for the DS made by Bioware was announced. This made me think that if Sega got a group like Bioware to make a Sonic game, Sonic was destined for a grand comeback, thus supported even more by his appearance in Brawl. Then a new game for all the current home consles (including the PS2) called "Sonic Unleashed" was announced. From what I've seen, this game may be what we where all hoping the 2006 game to be, but there may be a chink in this game's armor. A new engine called the Hedgehog Engine is being used for the PS3 and 360 versions of the game, while the PS2 and Wii versions are using a modified engine from past games. Along with this, there will be some change ups in stages and gameplay between the versions. This may make one version of the game a piece of shit, while the other one is great. As of recently, a sequel to the Secret Rings called, "Sonic and the Black Knight" was annouced. The Black Knight, is reported to make the movement more like you would have with the adventure games along with the addition of a sword for Sonic to swing around. With this line-up, it definately means that Sonic is set up to make a grand comeback.

The Blue Bomber hasn't been doing so well lately. Why? too many shitty to sub-par games have be realeased. The main offender of this is the Battle Network and Star Force series. But, Star Force has taken the mistakes made in make the BN games and says "Let's put a out a few games that are fun when you wanna kill some time and also, let's not drag it on like we did with BN". I say that after Star Force 3 is released, stop making games that go back to the same universe of SF and BN and focus on new games from the X and Orginal series along with a new ZX or Legends game here and there. Like Sonic, it seems to be that Megaman is making a comeback with Mega Man 9, which goes back to the orginal formula of the series, make a fun and solid game.

So in conclusion, it looks like both series on there way to being restored to the former glory, but I do see a few bumps in the road on the way.

Smash for Justice!

As of recently I have became Voice Actor of sorts in Wolfenblade's "Smash Online: The Rakkuro Chronicles" Machinima. I voice 2 characters, a Meta Knight player named Kenkaku (Swordsman in Japanese) and a Falco player named Finikkusu (The Japanese Preunciation of Phoenix). I'm not gonna say anymore. Also when a episode of Smash Online is released, I will make sure that I post it here.

No, I'm not a Pervert!

After getting home today I was looking for info on the new Kabuto SH Figuarts Figures and I stumbled upon Max Factory's Miku Hatsune Figma Figure. Miku is an "Artificial Artist" created with Yamaha's Vocaloid Program. Vocaloid is a voice syntheseser program. I think I may have to buy this figure. Why? She's cute. Cosplay as her, Shokotan!

And now, unfitting apple chasing. Toodles
